Blessings galore

God blesses those people who depend only on Him.
--- The Bible

The first part of the sermon on the mount was delivered by Jesus because He "saw" the crowds, and decided they need something. And woah - what a something it was.

Reading through the various blessing 'mantras' mentioned by our Lord, one thing is very clear - that we get blessed according to what we do. Mercy to the merciful, the whole world inherited by the meek, seek God and get whatever you want, the pure in heart will see God... But the one that stunned me now was this - God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. Mathew 5:11 and then in verse 12, Jesus continues by saying "Be happy and excited!" (CEV) I think that's pretty awesome.

When people mistreat us, and treat us like garbage, He not only wants us not to retaliate, but He also wants us to be happy and get excited about it. How about that. How many times have people been unfair to us at work or something and we've made a huge fuss about it? We feel down for several days, or even weeks. We go on and on about it. How many of those times have we actually depended upon the Lord to be happy and excited about it? Something to think about. Let's also pray about it.
